Story

Cradle of Design is a closed online community of selected young graphic designers. The characteristics of the community could be described as an environment in which one can; learn, teach, work, expand, discuss, share, create.

We mean to be a positive contribution to the world in the form of a new way of working. 9-5 is a great concept, but not for all of us. Cradle of Design is a platform that enables young graphic designers to, not only make some money, but develop themselves, collaborate, share thoughts and expand their ‘network’.

The idea was born from one single sentence; Creativity cannot be contained within four walls, a floor and a ceiling. The freedom of life (or the feeling thereof), seems to (for a lot of graduates) degrade once one starts ‘professional life’. Cradle wishes to be an enabler of independently working young graphic designers. We offer a space of creation, projects with established agencies, a community with talented creatives that, through collaboration, are constantly developing themselves.

We believe that young talent is the key to change, in a positive way. Negative energy is not very constructive and next to that quite boring. We create movement through a new way of implementing creativity, a lateral way of looking at design, without rigid instructions, but fluid, and open dialogue during the design process.

Cradle of Design is a product of converging ‘coincidences’. Founder of Cradle is Len Hulsbos. He saw an opportunity in the field of design in respect to the development of (social) communication means, design process, young talent and business development.

Other people behind Cradle of Design are David Fellah (CEO of Designit), Paul Hughes (Strategic Director & Partner of Lava Design) and Dan Germain (Head Creative of Innocent Drinks). This experienced team of people has been an important factor in the development and establishment of Cradle of Design as it stands now (and the things to come). Their experience and insight in the use of creativity, field of design, and development thereof, has been of enumerable value for the birth of Cradle of Design.
