The idea of a voluntary gathering is one that has formed societies, countries, clubs and schools -has caused world-reform and major paradigm-shifts. This particular voluntary gathering is one that has taken it upon itself to illustrate the creative and conceptual elegance of design –whilst taking the ‘gathering aspect’ of being into consideration.
The results of were (amongst others); the concept of a new airport with skinny-dipping security scans, the exploration of European Identity (and the possibility to buy it), the realisation 1+1=3, an interesting mix of joy and misery and a patchwork series (remix-culture at work).

In a world that is increasingly connected we have proven that a group of people -that in some case haven’t ever met, can build something physical, in one location with just a bit of initiative, creativity and a common goal. It was a pretty sight.
As this was sort of the first time we were ‘open to public’ we wanted to manifest ourselves as a platform that is about the limits of graphic design. We wanted to design a situation.
Cradle of Design aims to operate on the verge of art and graphic design-and are not afraid to combine the two. Our definition of art is visual communication that speaks to you; touches you in a way that words cannot, or at least do so in a different manner . We do so in our ‘commercial design’ as well as on nights like these. Graphic design is a form of communication, and as such it’s primary function is to communicate.
Next to that we like a good night out. Thanks to Bacardi for providing the Mojito’s.
A special thank you to Justin Blyth for producing our invite.
